Distribution abroad: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Persian Gulf, Socotra (Yemen), Madagascar, Seychelles, Aldabra (Seychelles) and western Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius) east to Samoa and Tonga, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia.
